In this post I will be reviewing a book called India After Gandhi: The History Of The World's Largest Democracy by Ramachandra Guha. I am a great fan of Gandhiji’s work for the society. This is the reason why I read this book at the first place.
In this book there is a theory known as "Butterfly effect" which signifies that a small seemingly insignificant alter may cause remarkable results over a program of time."India following gandhi" certainly looked like a proof of that. It certainly points at the big and little factors that have constructed our nation.
The chronicles of India continues to be so neatly described that it seeds a feel in the reader’s heart .Particularly for more youthful generation it gives a glimpse of our history and it instills a belief that it's a nation that withstood all of the tyranny and in opposition to all popular beliefs stayed as a democratic country.
Even-though the book is about 800 pages I by no means felt bored studying it. This book surely has altered lots of my prejudices about our history and our nationwide leaders.
It's certainly a magisterial work. It chronicles the Indian saga inside a painstakingly comprehensive but engaging method from the time impending independence. What tends to make this book interesting, as opposed to history lessons, is the fact that it's anecdotal and consists of various quotations and so on. Attributed towards the historical figures becoming mentioned, sourced from their private letters, official records and other people.
A great read along with a thorough knowledge concerning the history of India. Great read and should be read by anyone who desires to know much more concerning the Indian Background.
